A bit more choppy and sloppy than using final cut, but I thought it would be fun to make a gif image as my final project. More about learning how to animate in photoshop than anything else.
Adbusters
Posted in Uncategorized on November 18, 2009 by Daniel ClementsFor my artist, I chose to do the Activist group Adbusters. This not-for-profit, anti-consumerism group was started in 1989 by Kalle Lasn and Bill Schmalz in Vancouver Canada. Officially known as Adbusters Media Foundation, they bill themselves as “A global network of artists, activists, writers, pranksters, educators and entrepreneurs who want to advance the new social activist movement of the information age.”
This group is very hard to pin down, as a digital artist, as they accept submissions from many different artists. The art on their site, for example, is made almost entirely of submitted work by other artists who may not be directly involved in the operation of the Adbusters Media Foundation.
They do, however, have original artwork in the form of videos, posters, on their blogs, and in their magazine.
Despite their anti-corporate attitude, they also sell various tools for activism. Another Example. One famous product they sold was the digitally created Corporate Flag.
The posters they are most famous for are their spoof ads:

One recent video made by Adbusters deserves some attention.
Another video, very unlike the one above.

My Short Video
Posted in Uncategorized on November 13, 2009 by Daniel ClementsI think maybe it could have done with only one soundtrack, it might be a little confusing with both. Still, was fun to make!
